Forest Fire Density by Cost - Idaho and Montana

Two maps showing the areas of Northern Idaho and Western Montana most effected economically by forest fires in the years 1988 and 2000.

These maps were made for an assignment in my Analysis in GIS class. I used several spatial statistics methods to analyze forest fire patterns in Montana for two nonconsecutive years.

Methods used:
Directional distribution - Measure spatial patterns and create directional ellipses and centroids.
Spatial autocorrelation - Analyze if the distribution of the fire based on the cost are clustered together or dispersed.
Kernel density - Create a new map of the density of the point pattern from place to place (using cost as a weight to influence the significance of each fire).
